We’re Carmen and Laura — two moms who saw the writing on the (juice box) wall: our kids were surrounded by brightly colored drinks full of sugar, artificial flavors, and ingredients we couldn’t pronounce. And with over 54% of kids walking around dehydrated, we knew this wasn’t just about better choices—it was about creating a better solution.
Carmen
As a mom of two small children and a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN), I know firsthand how important it is to keep kids healthy, energized, and thriving. My passion for nutrition started at home—learning, experimenting, and finding ways to fuel my family with wholesome, balanced choices that support both busy school days and active play.
Part of my education and curiosity led me to create and develop my own electrolytes, smoothies and bars designed to help fuel the sports I love—tennis, biking, and skiing. I’ve seen the difference that proper hydration and nutrition make, not only in performance but in everyday energy and well-being.
Before becoming a nutritionist, I spent 20 years working in the outdoor apparel industry, where I saw the strong connection between movement, adventure, and proper fueling. That experience reinforced my belief that what we put into our bodies directly impacts how we show up in the world.
With that in mind, I worked with Laura to create a clean, kid-friendly electrolyte—free from unnecessary sugars and additives—designed to support hydration and energy. Elec’trik is a product I feel good giving my own children, and one I’m proud to share with other families.
Laura
As an entrepreneur in the wellness beverage world (my husband and I founded tealish.com in 2005), one of my greatest joys has been creating drinks that are not only healthy and nourishing, but also genuinely delicious. My children have grown up with tea in their cups (herbal blends, mostly!) since they were toddlers, and as they’ve gotten older, I’ve constantly looked for creative ways to keep them happily hydrated.
Still, I often found myself frustrated: water bottles would come home from school untouched, and encouraging them to drink plain water felt like a never-ending battle. At the same time, I was innovating in our tea business with tea powders, and it began to feel clear that developing a wholesome, kid-friendly beverage was the natural next step.
Carmen and I bonded instantly over our shared passion for nutrition and determination to keep our active kids nourished, hydrated, and thriving. Out of that shared vision, Elec’trik was born—a vibrant, wholesome hydration option crafted to support growing bodies and active lifestyles.
